The adventure is ready to begin!
The first leg of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles and the medical caravan is fast approaching… On the eve of Leg 1, the Cœur de Gazelles team is busy preparing for the 2018 edition.
At the bivouac, the 62 volunteers gather for the traditional welcome briefing. The group includes caravan veterans and newcomers alike, all brought together with the same objective: to make a difference.
Marina Vrillacq, association president, and Fred Valat, caravan manager, begin their presentations. This year Cœur de Gazelles has 7 different medical specialties: general medicine, paediatrics, optics, dentistry, gynaecology, diabetes screening and patient follow-up.
The doctors will be accompanied by pharmacists and nurses in addition to the donations unit, the administration unit, the eco-caravan—which provides hygiene and environmental workshops—and the communications team.
After the briefing and the start of the Prologue for the Gazelles, the team gets down to organizing the medical supplies and equipment, which will be transported by our official partner Aïcha.

Moroccan food industry leader Aïcha (Les conserves de Meknès) has been title partner of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc since 1997, and also a partner of Cœur de Gazelles for many years.
Thanks to Aïcha, the medical caravan is able to transport all the medical supplies and equipment it needs to some of the most remote villages in Morocco.
Most of these isolated populations have no access to the medical system, because of the distance separating the communities. Many of them have never even seen a doctor. Providing them with medical care by Cœur de Gazelles therefore includes the distribution of appropriate drugs in accordance with the doctors’ diagnosis.
