A ‘super excited’ Spanish-Moroccan team

For the first time, a Moroccan and a Spaniard are joining forces for this 28^th edition of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc. This is Hindi’s second Rallye and Marina’s first. Their friendship is still quite recent and when asked about it, they smile and then start to laugh…

The two members of Team 239 (Marina GARCÍA-ESCÁMEZ / Hind TANGI - McAfee), aged 40 and 33, met at a dinner with friends: “After talking to Marina for a while, I told her I was sure she would love doing this rally,” explains Hindi. To which Marina replied: “The first time I met Hindi, I was immediately captivated by this magnificent adventure. Right away I agreed to be her teammate for this year’s edition. I was already determined.” That was six months ago, and here they are just a few hours from the start of the adventure.

During her first Rallye in 2016, Hindi finished at the bottom after accumulating a lot of penalty points, but that doesn’t matter. “I wanted to do it again, I just needed to find the right person to do it with.” Hindi happened to have connections at McAfee, who agreed to sponsor them. “This year, everything is falling into place”.

In terms of preparation, Marina trained with a personal trainer for three months. The two Gazelles then got together in Madrid, and again at the navigation training last February. They feel ready and energized: “We can’t wait to be there and we’re super excited: there’s no better way to put it. We’re in good shape, all that’s missing is music in the vehicle and it will be perfect.” Their objective? “We don’t have a goal in terms of outcome; we don’t want to feel disappointed. We just want to finish, and finish well, and have a wonderful time!”
