Where’s the pool?
TEAM 501
Valérie and Carine of Team 501 (Valerie ROMANN / Carine DECRAENE - ACER France) appear relaxed.
One is a nurse, the other is a day care worker. For Valérie, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc was a dream, fuelled for a long time by the reports she saw and read over the years.
So why an electric vehicle? “In the beginning, we found a sponsor who promised to provide us with an electric car and all kinds of things. In the end, they dumped us. But we had a few other sponsors who were interested by this vehicle class, so we completed our budget on that premise; we stayed in electric class” they explain on the start line.
Any frustrations with regard to the capabilities of a 4×4? “Well, we knew the limits, we’re fine with that. The important thing is to enjoy the adventure to the max. And with just 5 teams, we’re sure to be in the top five.” Fighting for first place is clearly not a priority for this team who always have a smile on their faces and completely agree on their goals. On this chilly morning when the wind has finally let up a little, they arrive exclaiming to no-one in particular, “Where’s the pool?” On a more serious note, they add: “Above all, we want to do our best and get to Essaouira with a vehicle in one piece.”
