The mail tent: a connection with family and friends
With its stools and carpets, it’s the most welcoming space at the bivouac. It is also the most frequented by the Gazelles in the evening. “It’s our moment, when we get back to the bivouac. That and the bar tent!” affirms Team 126 (Jocelyne BOUSSER / Aurore DEVAL - Les Ateliers Pédagogiques).
This where the e-mails sent to the teams by their families, friends and colleagues are downloaded and printed, all day long. “It’s our ritual and our relief of the day. I support this mailbox system 400%!” exclaims Team 158 (Gazelle Gazelle / Chloé JARAS - ASSYSTEM France).
An average of 2,000 messages are received every day, or 20,000 during the entire Rallye. 4 computers and 3 phones with prepaid phone cards allow the Gazelles to contact their loved ones. “It’s great to have this connection with the outside world, and to get messages from the people supporting us,” adds Team 224 (Karine ESPERANDIEU / Sandrine JOUANNET - RÉCUPÉRATION ALÉSIENNE FERS ET MÉTAUX). There is a ballot box on a table in the corner for the Beauty Car Challenge. Each team can vote for their choice of best-decorated vehicle. In Essaouira, the happy winner will receive a discount of €8,000 on their registration fees for the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc 2019.
